Macallan 1940 Rare Single Malt Whisky

Macallan 1940 Single Malt. This 1940 distilled Macallan was first bottled by the independent bottler Gordon and Macphail in 1975 (making this a 35-year-old Single Malt) it was then re-bottled officially by Macallan in 2002.  Bottled at 43% abv, 420 bottles of this particular vintage were produced. However,  Since its inception in 2002, Macallan’s Fine and Rare collection has seen over 50 vintage releases and comprises some of the most sought-after and singularly collectible bottlings from the distillery

A peated expression, with a lovely mixture of floral delicacy on the nose that’s joined by citrus fruit, toffee, vanilla pod, dried sultana and apricot, and gentle charred smoke.  The palate is oaky with more dried fruit and sweet nuttiness (almond, coconut, and cashew) aligned with caramelized apple flavor and more subtle smokiness.  The finish is drying with cinder toffee sweetness and spice and dying bonfire embers.

The Macallan 1940 is an extremely rare and highly sought-after single-malt Scotch whisky. It was distilled by The Macallan Distillery, known for producing some of the world’s finest and most collectible whiskies. The 1940 vintage is a part of Macallan’s Fine & Rare series, which features some of the oldest and most prestigious expressions from the distillery’s history.

Here are some key details about the Macallan 1940:

  1. Age: As the name suggests, it was distilled in the year 1940, making it an incredibly well-aged whisky.
  2. Rarity: Due to its age and limited availability, the Macallan 1940 is considered extremely rare and collectible. Bottles from this vintage are highly sought after by whisky enthusiasts and collectors.
  3. Flavor Profile: The specific flavor profile of a Macallan 1940 can vary depending on the cask used for aging and other factors. However, it’s generally expected to have a rich, complex, and mature character with notes of dried fruits, oak, spices, and possibly a hint of sherry sweetness.
  4. Presentation: Bottles from this vintage are typically presented in classic packaging, often in wooden boxes, and may have labels indicating the year of distillation and bottling.
